Thanks to COVID, we had to postpone and reschedule our annual 5K a number of times. While our biggest outdoor event normally takes place in May, the pandemic cut right into our plans and forced us to sit and wait patiently to figure out a solution that would allow us to host this race. And thanks to so many of you around the country that inquired about the run, we decided to host a virtual 5K on October 10th, which marked the 5th anniversary of losing Keri Anne. It was definitely an emotional day for the family, but we were (and are) grateful to be surrounded physically and spiritually by such a caring community.
It seemed like a stroke of destiny, and we ran with it (pun intended). Over 100 people from across the country participated, sending us pictures and videos of their runs and walks around their neighborhoods, local parks, and even the Jersey shore. Some of the states represented included Florida, Iowa, New Jersey, Texas, and more. This was by far our most successful 5K, and we didn't even meet in person! This would not have happened without your dedication and support, so thank you all for showing up right where you were and making an impact on this special day!
Going forward we will be added a virtual option to all of our future 5K events- we want as many people from across the country to get involved as possible, and hope to one day have every single state represented!
Our 4th Annual Dinner Banquet was an absolute blast! This year was truly the biggest night of the year for us, and we were honored to have a room packed full of our friends, family, consistent supporters, and many first-time attendees. We had over 20 men and women nominated for our law enforcement based Decisions Scholarship, a full silent auction, and amazing food provided by Pickles Catering. We also had some surprises throughout the evening including a special video message from our friend Officer Daniels, and we also got to surprise our friend and event host Trooper Steve Montiero with the #KeriAnneDeMottMatters Award. It was an amazing evening that set the tone for the upcoming year, and we are so excited for what's to come thanks to everyone that supports our family and our message. Check out the slideshow above (photos by the amazingly talented Sherri Claudio) to see all of the highlights of the night!
Mark your calendar for next year's 5th Annual Dinner Banquet on January 9th, 2021 (Keri's 26th Birthday)!
We would like to give a special thanks to to so many people! Thank you to Ken and Cynthia White, Maury and Crystal Zavallo, and all of our volunteers for making the night truly amazing! We also want to thank Pickles Catering for a 5-star menu and Diane Vaught for the always amazing starfish cupcakes! We also want to thank all of the companeis and individuals that contributed to our silent auction; your donations have helped raise funds that will allow us to travel farther and speak to more people than ever before. Thank you to everyone that came out and made the evening so so special!
